Your first dive: no certificate needed
An introductory dive (often called a try dive or discovery dive) is made for people who have never dived. After a short briefing on the boat you go into the water with an instructor beside you, in shallow water, and simply enjoy the reef. You'll fill in a short medical form first; some health conditions need a doctor's OK, so tell us about them when you ask.
Dive trips for certified divers
Day boats from Hurghada usually make two dives at reefs around the Giftun islands and the nearby coast. Longer day trips reach famous sites further away, such as the Thistlegorm wreck. Bring your certification card and logbook, and tell us your level and the last time you dived.
Diving courses
If you'd like to get certified, a beginner course usually takes about three to four days: some theory, practice in shallow water and dives on the reef. Courses for experienced divers (advanced, nitrox, deep) are possible too. Ask us and we'll send the options for your dates.
Safety and health
- Don't dive with a cold or blocked nose: your ears need to equalise
- Leave at least 24 hours between your last dive and your flight home
- Children have minimum ages and special programmes; tell us their ages
- Drink water and protect yourself from the sun between dives
Prefer to stay on the surface?
Snorkeling shows you the same reefs from the surface, no course needed: our trips to Orange Bay and Paradise Island include two snorkeling stops with a guide, and our snorkeling guide explains what you'll see. For children and non-swimmers, a glass bottom boat is the dry option.
