What a fishing trip is like
The boat leaves from the marina and heads to fishing grounds off the coast. The easiest way for beginners is line fishing near the bottom: the crew shows you how to bait the hook and when to pull. Experienced anglers can ask for trolling, where lines are pulled behind the moving boat for bigger fish.
Typical catches in the Red Sea include groupers, snappers and emperor fish, and on some days barracuda or trevally. Fishing isn't allowed in protected areas such as the national park reefs, so the crew takes you to the places where it's permitted.
Can we eat what we catch?
Ask us when you send your inquiry: on some boats the crew can prepare your catch, and the options depend on the boat and the length of the trip.
What to bring
- Sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat: there's little shade on deck
- A light jacket from December to March, when the wind is cool
- Seasickness tablets if you need them, taken before you leave
- Your own rod and tackle if you prefer them; tell us when you ask
Fishing with children
A short line-fishing trip is a fun way to introduce children to the sea. Choose a calm day and a half-day trip, and bring snacks and shade. If they'd rather look at fish than catch them, try a glass bottom boat or the Grand Aquarium.
A private boat for your group
For a group or a family, a private boat lets you choose the pace. If you'd also like to swim and see dolphins, our private speedboat to Dolphin House is another way to have the boat to yourselves.
