What you see at Sand City
The museum has two main themes. One is history and myth: pharaohs, gods and legendary figures, some of them several metres tall. The other is a wonderland of cartoon and fairy-tale characters that children recognise at once. There's also a workshop where children can try making their own sand art.
Sand sculptures don't last forever, so some figures are renewed from time to time and what you see may differ from older photos.
How a visit with us works
Tell us your date, how many adults and children you are and your hotel. We reply with the price, the pickup time and what's included. Sand City pairs well with the Hurghada Grand Aquarium for a family half day; ask us and we'll plan both with one transfer.
Tips for your visit
- It's outdoors with little shade: bring a hat, sunscreen and water
- Go in the late afternoon for softer light and cooler air, or in the morning in summer
- Look, don't touch: the sculptures are only sand
- Bring a camera or a charged phone: it's one of the most photogenic stops in Hurghada
See the real thing
If the pharaohs at Sand City make you curious, the real temples are within reach: our day trip to Luxor visits the Valley of the Kings and Karnak, and the trip to the Pyramids of Giza goes to Cairo. Our guides to Egyptian gods and hieroglyphs are a good read before you go.
